Why Are Americans So Unhealthy?

We’ve been earning and burning calories for decades and it’s not working. Can anything be done about our current state of health?

Americans live in a world filled with tools to help us get healthy. We have activity trackers, apps, books, podcasts, bootcamps, and a mountain of supplements. On the surface it seems that everyone is trying to help us get healthy but it’s not working. Add in decades of bad nutritional advice where we blame unhealthy people for their current state. Meanwhile we overlook the fact that what they were told simply doesn’t work.

What Is Healthy?

Part of the problem is people simply don’t know what is healthy. Thanks to decades of poor information from the government and industry most people are confused. They don’t know if fat is bad or if carbohydrates are bad. Many subscribe to the idea that exercise is a requirement, a punishment, for eating food. Decades of bad advice that created diet failure has caused many to simply give up.¹

If you’ve been taught to expect failure there’s a good chance you believe nothing can be done about your current health.² Taking it a step further, most doctors receive little to no nutritional training. The worst thing a physician can tell someone is their food…
